While I normally would write about diamonds, engagement rings or our clients, we approach a holiday weekend so if you’ll indulge me I would like to touch upon Memorial Day.
While we are planning our barbeques, picnics and days at the beach let us not forget what this holiday is truly about. Memorial Day is the day we honor our military, those living as well as those fallen. We must all remember that as we go about our lives there are fine men and women that are far from home whose sole intention is to keep us safe from harm while putting themselves in harms way. They don’t ask much and on top of it volunteer to do so, so it’s not asking much from us that we just remember these fine men and women on this holiday.
My wife and I come from a military background so it’s easy for us to hang our flag and call family and thank them for their service and to remember those we cannot thank in person.
So all I suggest is that you thank a soldier or a sailor or marine or airman for their service. It’s easy in New York; it’s fleet week. Hundreds of men and women to thank, on Monday there will be parades all over this great country of ours full of veterans, go up and shake their hands and thank them for keeping us safe, you’ll will be amazed how much those simple words can do.
Regardless of personal affiliations these people have earned and deserved our thanks and I plan on thanking a lot and encourage all of you to join me.
