  Let’s talk today about the diamond and its amazing versatility and amazing it is. At Shenoa Diamonds we display it in many ways as the diamond is purchased for many an occasion here are but a few examples:

  While I tend to wax poetic about stories of jewelry and the people that buy them lets talk today about the establishment I so proudly work for, and that is Shenoa Diamonds. What does that mean you may ask? Well the word Shenoa roughly translates into ‘peace of mind’ and in my business that can mean the world.

  I often speak of the Shenoa experience being that we work harder for your business, we may not be big but we are big hearted with bigger thoughts. Here we know that a special shopping experience coupled with a special occasion can last a lifetime and we want to be part of that lifetime. Thankfully, I mention to many a man getting engaged that this is the first of many jewelry purchases and thankfully there is the fiancé on the receiving end of the ring that’s hopes and aspirations keep Shenoa afloat.

   We have all had unpleasant shopping experiences even at well known and promoted stores. It can be tiresome dealing with clerks that could really care less, or my favorite type the condescending ones; you know, the ones that look down their noses when you ask an innocent question or better yet the ones that make you feel like the question you asked is stupid and beneath them. Frankly I have to tell you these are the types that make my job and that of my co workers easier, because I always impress upon others it is easier to be nice, being miserable is work, hard work.

  That Shenoa & Co. , located in midtown Manhattan, affords me the chance to work with all kinds of people. Being located right off 5th Avenue allows me to work with people that have been ticked off by salespeople in some of the finest establishments in the world and I welcome it. Always treat people nice and it comes back in spades. Well, I have an ever-growing clientele that attests to it. Listen, I’m no threat to those big guns but they are a blessing to me.

  Until then…… Fair winds and Following Seas………

   You got to love that quote. It brings life to a simple essence and having a true love for the sea it speaks to me. So lets talk about another of life’s true essences and that would be love and the things we do for it(and in my opinion they aren’t all stupid).

   Those in love have been known to go to extremes, whether it’s searching the four corners or a simple bouquet of flowers, love is professed in a wide array; from the simple act of giving a solitaire diamond engagement ring to the sublime. A tennis bracelet, 5 ct total weight, round diamond studs plus a 3 ct round set in a handmade tapered baguette platinum diamond semi mount (can’t make this up that was one lucky lady’s Christmas). They are both expressions of love, one of life’s true essences.

  I have a dear friend and let’s just say he’s a bit tight, and whenever he buys his wife a gift from me he doesn’t set the budget to high, so what happens is he usually comes back to pick out another gift which is always more expensive than the first. So this year’s birthday gift, a 5 stone diamond band, turns into a handmade antique style diamond ring. It makes no matter to me, this ain’t my first rodeo, so I’m used to it and I always tell Phil that’s how’s it’s going to play out no matter.

  Again, just love playing out and it’s nice to see in a couple that’s been married for 25 years and still acting like they just got together, it’s really quite heartening.

  Then there’s the guy who scrapes together a couple of thousand to buy his girlfriend a diamond ring in the hopes that they will have a beautiful life together. It’s not the amount of money, it’s the love that he feels for this girl that’s the driving force it will conquer.

  I could go on and on, but I don’t wish to bore you , I just wish you all love one of life’s true essences!!!!

  I got home last night and my cheerful daughter Kayla met me at the door (as per usual). She follows me around the house as I adjust to home life, kiss my wife, say a hello to my son and so on. Well, I finally arrive in the kitchen to put together dinner and my daughter asks,” you know what I want for Easter daddy” thinking candy, Easter eggs or those marshmallow chickens I state flatly,” no honey what do you want” Kayla replies,” I want gold and diamonds”. I say,’Huh”, she states again, “ I want gold and diamonds”. To say the least I’m a bit flabbergasted and start chuckling to which I get the response,” and a chocolate bunny too.”

  Thankfully for my business, the education in diamonds starts young. The girls all seem to go to the same school, which is okay by me. Unfortunately, us guys tend to start our education much later in life, usually around the time when we here,” you know Mike we’ve been dating for two years now and my girlfriend Susan just got an engagement ring, and her and Bob have only been dating a year what’s up with that.” At this point Mike has two options, and the smoothest path is to get that Diamond Engagement Ring. The other option can be quite sticky and messy.

  Well Mike, I can tell you we at Shenoa Diamonds are here to help with the education, the process of choosing the right diamond and setting to go along with it. I’m sure Mike is sweating beads and afraid of the unknown (and at this point cursing Bob). No worries, we are real easy to deal with and Mike knows he’s deeply in love with his girlfriend and was just postponing the inevitable.

  So this ditty’s motto should be, At Shenoa & CO relax don’t sweat the small stuff we’ll take care of that for you , you just take care of the rest of your lives!!!!!!!

  What is a diamond???????

  This is a question that depending on the individual can come with many answers and meanings let’s take a look at a few:

• Technical- coal that is formed under high pressure deep in the bowels of the Earth then brought to the surface via volcanoes
• Mysterious- for time memoriam sought after by Kings and Rulers and great powers to horde and bring wealth
• Haunting - some have been said to been cursed (the Hope Diamond) the owner falling to foul deeds and terrible endings, a terrible burden
• Dangerous – lives and fortunes have been lost just to bring diamonds to the surface, wars have been won and lost just to have them in one’s possession
• Romantic – Love has been spread by the simple deed of a diamond given
• Forever – handed down from generation to generation passed from Mother to Daughter
• Exhilarating – breathe can be taken away tears of joy can form by just being the person who receives the diamond
• Hoped for – there are many out there who’s main thought is the hope that they will be given one soon

   So in review a diamond is technically mysterious while being dangerously haunting forever romantic exhilaratingly hoped for!!!!!!!

A Happy St Patrick’s to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  Hello me wee leprechaun Friends Kerry Michael Ryan here…………………..

  Being Irish myself and a traditionalist, I am wishing you all a very Happy St Patrick’s day. It is a day that inspires smiles and good cheer and I recommend to all our Shenoa friends the same. While we are not all Irish, it’s not hard to share in a day when we can all act like we are.

   It’s a day inspired by great deeds and should be celebrated in kind, on a day that the many parade up 5th Avenue dancing many a jig along the way. A day when I personally see such smiles and loved shared by all when you can’t help but to hum an Irish tune, my hope is that you too dance a jig, whistle a tune, kiss a loved one and bring a smile to someone special to you.

  So, on St Patty’s day I invite you to shine as bright as a Diamond and to sparkle brightly as any gem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

     ‘ May the road rise to meet you

      May the wind be always at your back

      A warm sun in your face

      And may a gentle rain fall upon your fields…………….

   And most importantly……………………..

 May you be in Heaven a half hour before the Devil knows your dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  (in my case pray for a solid 45 minutes to a hour head start)
