Hello all Kerry Ryan Here,

   Winter has hit New York and Shenoa & CO again begs to ask the question how’s that Global Warming thing going?? While we are digging out of another 12 inches of global warming here I’ve decided to start to set the Diamond and Jewelry Agenda for 2011.

   We are anticipating breaking out some new styles in engagement rings with fine micro pave pieces being in the forefront, I will be posting new pictures very soon and would welcome any and all feedback.

 

Introducing new Diamond necklace and pendants this year with a heavy accent on Fancy color Diamonds set in Micro Pave bezels featuring colorless white diamonds. They are quite a study in contrasts and would fit in well to any women’s collection as they can be dressed up and down; this NEW line is truly exciting you should come see for yourself.

 

This past Christmas Diamond and Sapphire combinations were the rage from earrings to Eternity bands our customers couldn’t get enough so I plan on restocking what sold and building a few new items. Personally I love Diamond and Sapphire combinations again because they are neutral friendly and really standout. My lovely wife can bear witness to this fact she received a sapphire and diamond eternity band for the birth of Brenden Patrick and diamond and sapphire Earrings for an anniversary and she wears them often.

Restocking of our diamond stud inventory has begun in earnest, this year we are going to raise the bar and introduce to our stock higher qualities, we usually keep the higher qualities loose but found ourselves this season matching many a pair of loose stones, so why not set up pairs in varying sizes seems to be the next logical step. While our stock inventory continues to be full and unparalleled never hurts to expand a little bit. So come on in try them on maybe an upgrade is in your future as they say ‘hey you never know’.

In review of our diamond necklace section I’ve decided that we have something for everyone, a tennis necklace is a must for the jewelry collection and absolutely wearable, ladies there is many an occasion that a diamond tennis necklace is called for so again stop on by and try some on.

As far as the miscellaneous goals this year:

1)       We have almost 400 fans we want to grow by leaps and bounds so please recommend that your friends friend us(hope I said that right) our goal is a 1000 by April help us on our way ….I’ll keep you posted

2)       2011 is going to be” The year of the Customer” I have charged my staff that we are to amp up our customer service to make sure that we come out on top in the way that we serve you again all feedback is welcome.

3)       Ever the optimistic we at Shenoa & CO believe that this year will be better for all we wish it for you and your families and friends may you find that higher peak.

4)       Lastly we look forward to all those new friends and customers that will grace our doors this year that is always the exciting part, the anticipation is palatable and we welcome it!!!!

A Very Happy New Years To All

Hello all Kerry Ryan here……….

 Wishing all the will to  attain their dreams and the hope that you get there!!!!!!

  Resolutions…….

     A new year has begun and with it come the resolutions  made some attainable and others far-fetched, you know the usual: lose   weight, quit  smoking, and work out and the far- fetched: lose weight, quit smoking,   and work  out.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

 Well at Shenoa & Co. We try to keep the resolutions  within reason and this year is no different let me give you an overview:

 

Specially Made for a Special Shenoa Customer. Part 1 of the "Viginia Mia" Collection. Over 300 Round Brilliant Micro set with a 10ct Heart Shape Diamond

1)       Customer  Service this always takes priority at Shenoa and we will review what we did in  2010 and tweak what we think is necessary for 2011 an example being: will be  better educating our customers about costs where we used to not charge for  certain repairs with the spiraling prices of precious metals we can no longer  do so. While we feel our customers will understand a thorough explanation will  go a long way in helping their understanding.

 

2)       Inventory  will be revamped and refreshed, while maintaining our cutting edge into newer  designs and experimentation, we will not forsake the classics (they are  classics for a reason), we will take a long hard look at older pieces and see  if they are still viable, again we look forward to introducing new styles of  engagement rings, wedding bands, diamond bracelets and necklaces while keeping  in mind the need for the staples: diamond studs, classic tennis bracelets and  necklaces etc.

 3)       With great  anticipation that 2011 will be a better year then 2010 we look forward to  expanding our diamond inventory strongly feeling that the strength of the  Cushion Cut and Radiant Cut Diamond will continue to be in high demand. This is  a resolution we make every year and if you stop by Shenoa & CO you’ll  see for yourself that our inventory of loose diamonds is unparalleled, so that  is an open invite ladies and gentlemen.

 

       Personally I wish to be  in better contact with my customer base; I welcome all feedback and look  forward to our little talks. I will be introducing new styles in the upcoming  weeks and months and promise that you all will be the first to preview

 

        While this may  not be a resolution as I do often I invite one and all to stop by the store in  NYC the actual address is 1 West 47th Street between 5th and  6th Ave so if you are making a trip to NYC come knock on our door we  would be happy to see you, remember we are open 7 days a week so there are no  excuses.  Make this the year you bring that special someone in or yourself  in to pick something up for that special someone. Life is more then a point and  click, human interaction can never be replaced by a screen and a keyboard so  stop on by we’ll have a smile waiting for you and go on from there.

Love those last minute guys………

 

Well Des just finished booking the golf trip with the boys to Cabo. Now, what else to do. Let’s see its December 22nd and he hasn’t told the wife about Cabo. In fact he hasn’t done one bit of Christmas shopping for her, it’s been a great year

thankfully and she deserves something special and it has to be big enough to soften the blow when Cabo comes up in conversation.

 

Off to Shenoa & Co does Des go and after some gentle prodding, He decides on a gorgeous Platinum Diamond Eternity Band (5 ct total weight round brilliants in a shared prong style setting) and matching earrings. The earrings are for her stocking, the Band for under the tree, I’m sure Melissa (Des’s wife) will be thrilled this Christmas, but I heard he decided to bring up Cabo after the New Year….It’s called détente!!!

 

Jason doesn’t have a clue and as usual he’s always last minute as it is December 23rd in he rushes,” Kerry, haven’t got Kathy anything and have no idea what to get her!”

 

Okay time to talk Jason off the cliff,” Sit-down Jason, cup of coffee… great, now let’s just figure out what she doesn’t have”. Well we do the old Hand, Neck and Ear thing and arrive at the conclusion that Kathy’ neck could use some adornment. We look together at pendants, tennis necklaces, and fashion items but this year is special, so we decide on a truly one of a kind piece. A handmade Fancy Yellow Radiant cut Diamond set in a micro pave halo dangling from a delicate diamond necklace.    Tragedy averted and a Christmas morning miracle made!!!!!!!

Shenoa’s Santa Scenarios Part Duex

Hello All Kerry Ryan Here,

Chris and Cessna stop in on a weekend in December,  they have been long time customers at Shenoa really like family more then customers.  Frankly it’s been a few years since they’ve graced our doors and it’s  great to see them. We kick around the store look at some diamond bands, then  move on to Diamond earrings dangle style,

but Cessna’s eyes really light up  once we move on to diamond tennis bracelets. So together we go through  different styles and zero in on the classic straight-line 4 prong style, now we  look at different sizes starting with 3 ct total weight and work are way up.  Cessna loves them all, but I can tell by her reactions that the 6 ct one really  excites her; she’s looked at larger but as I always said, jewelry is  personal and the piece that fits you talks to you.

Here’s where it gets interesting,  she loves the bracelet but this was just a hello visit so her excitement is  tempered. Her phone rings, being polite Cessna walks out of the store to answer  it (she still has the bracelet on). Chris asks,” Kerry what will it take  to get this done?”. “Well Chris typically a credit card and a  handshake and we’ll wrap it up for you now.” After some gentle back  and forth negotiating we settle on a price and proceed to write up a receipt.  At this exact moment Cessna walks back in the store blushing and says,” I  didn’t realize I still had the bracelet on when I took the call, please  let me give it back to you.”

 

Chris states,” No need to Cess…Merry  Christmas!” Cessna gets a teary eyed look of joy and hugs Chris  emphatically. The rest of the store takes notice, I’m sure it lit a few  fires that day, did notice a few more Shenoa bags leave that day.

 

Works been keeping Patty and Dermott apart this  holiday season, Dermott’s job keeps him on the road and Patty works long  hour herself. They’ve been dating for almost 2 years now and Patty’s  hoping for a special Christmas this year but they never had time to go shopping  together, though they discussed Patty’s likes that was the extent of  their run up to a special day. What Patty didn’t know was that Dermott  had been talking to Shenoa. He had himself paid a trip to Shenoa and Company and  selected a Radiant Cut diamond set in a custom maid split shank micro pave  style mounting.

 

Here’s where it gets interesting they have a  weekend planned in the city, it is the 2 year anniversary of them meeting and  where better to have it but in the actual place they met. So with dinner  planned at

The Pig ‘n’ Whistle at eight they spend a fun day in the  city seeing the sights, check in to their hotel and get ready for dinner. So as  8 PM approaches they walk over to the restaurant a couple of cocktails and a  nice dinner, just what the doctor ordered. As they walk in the door they are  greeted at the door by Pat the owner who takes their coats and leads them  upstairs to the dining room, strange Patty thinks, thought we were having  drinks at the bar first but acquiesces. As they enter the dining room Patty sees  her whole family as well as Dermot’s in the room at this point she turns  around and lo and behold there is Dermot on bended knee holding an open box  from Shenoa,”What do you think babe, will you marry me?” Astonished,  Patty exclaims,” Dermott You Son of a…..of course I will ….on  my God its beautiful!” The crowd breaks into cheers, and Patty into Tears,  joyous ones. If I may add , I was there to witness this!!!!!

This season, ladies and gentleman, the hits keep on  coming

Okay ladies and gentleman a quick holiday update on what’s happening here, let’s see………………….

 

A one of a kind Fashion Diamond ring is flying

overseas as we speak. A 17ct micro pave ring literally a stunner, the special lady picked it out herself. Hey guys, sometimes let the girls do their own shopping, it can pay in the long run.

 

Ireland seems to be a popular destination for Shenoa bags and boxes this year yesterday a pair of Diamond Drop Earrings found their way into a gentleman’s suitcase just before his flight there is going to be a thrilled Colleen in County Clare the Christmas.

 

As usual Diamond studs were the big winners this weekend a 5ct pair of Round Brilliants being set in Platinum and shipped to Connecticut, a pair of 3 Ct rounds on their way to Virginia, and my favorite a beautiful couple from

1.25 ct ROUND DIAMOND STUD EARRINGS

Westchester came in on Friday celebrating their 38th anniversary and pick out a 1.50ct pair. The lady said she had wanted them for oh so long but there was always something else for any spare money to be spent on. The absolute joy she had in her eyes when she put them on knowing they were hers was a sight to see, it’s these moments that keep bringing me back, let’s put it this way heart felt is heart felt.

 

Let’s not forget Diamond engagement rings a 2ct+ round brilliant being set in a handmade platinum micro pave ring halo style will be under a

3.00 ct DIAMOND TENNIS BRACELET in WHITE GOLD

Hello all Kerry Ryan here……

What a special time of year in a very special place in the world. I may be slightly prejudiced but I can think of no place better to be and be able to ply our (Shenoa Diamond’s) wares then the Big Apple itself. The buzz on the streets of Manhattan really cranks up a notch in December, last night we had the spectacular spectacle of the tree lighting at Rockefeller Center the sidewalks where packed with all types just the smiles of joy you see from the children is enough to warm your heart.

 The holiday weekend at Shenoa started off with a bang , the weekend the store  was full of customers from all over the map many a bag left the store with a gift intended for someone special this Christmas.

Let’s see there was a diamond band for Marie that Jude purchased (it’s now on it’s way to Ireland), a returning couple from Mississippi stops by and walks out with a 21/4 ct Emerald Cut Diamond set simply in a solitaire it sparkled almost as much as the lady’s eyes who was wearing it. Special orders seem to be the precedent, I am working on multiple diamond pendants and diamond stud earrings all intended to be sitting under the Christmas tree in a few weeks. Let’s put it this way I am keeping my elves especially busy this year.

 Let’s not forget that the phone is ringing off the hook with orders from those customers that can’t make it to the store, but still want to make it a special holiday and we are thankful that they think of Shenoa & CO for their jewelry purchases. Let’s see I got a 4ct pair of round brilliant cut Diamond studs ready to be shipped to Illinois, a 6ct diamond tennis bracelet on it’s way to California, as well as a Sapphire and Diamond Necklace boxed and awaiting the go ahead to make it’s way to Texas….Yahoooo…

Trends and More Trends...

Hello all Kerry Ryan here……

 

   I’ve always marveled that when famous  people get engaged it tends to start trends. Okay follow me here, Prince  William and Kate Middleton just announced there engagement in honor of his  Mother (the late Princess Diana) he presented Ms Middleton with the Sapphire and  diamond ring that his father had given to Princess Diana a wonderful gesture. I  got to tell you when Prince Charles gave that ring it started a trend that  lasted for a solid ten years every woman wanted the ‘Princess Di’  ring couldn’t keep them in stock.

While this time around I don’t  think it will command the same fury just walking past other jewelry stores this  week I‘ve noticed they have dusted off their old stock and put the  leftover ‘Princess Di’ rings back into their windows trying to  catch some magic in a bottle.

  Why I don’t think it will catch on is the  consumer has more sophisticated tastes these days and wish more unique contemporary  look, finely handcrafted micro pave pieces or stunning three stones styles seem  to be the preferences. Tastes do change (and sometimes they are on a dime) but  I feel the ‘Princess Di’ ring is lovely the look is somewhat dated.  Here’s wishing William and Kate a long and happy journey on the stage  they live on they will need a strong sense of self and humor.

 I was talking to Leon(my boss) yesterday and we  touched upon when the Asscher Cut diamond(cut cornered square emerald) became  hot, and it coincided with a episode of ‘Sex and the City’ when one  of the major character’s was given a 3 ct Asscher. BOOM every other lady  that came through Shenoa’s door wanted to see an Asscher on her hand,  sales in that shape jumped and while it has leveled off the Asscher is still a  prominent requested shape.

 I’ve also found that ‘the Oscars’ is  always trend setters, just watch what the women wear and you’ll see the  ladies around you wearing them soon also. One year its chandelier style diamond  earrings, the next its diamond tennis necklaces and large solitaire diamond  studs as well as funky bracelets and bangles. The ‘Oscars tend to be an  ear, neck, and wrist venue.

Pebbles

Hello All Kerry Ryan here…

One of the dealers Shenoa buys and sells to was recently in the store (we will refer to him as Trent) observing a sale I was finishing up. Trent deals in larger stones and with that comes a larger personality and so he states to me,” Kerry while are you dealing in pebbles you need to sell a rock”. Well ladies and gentlemen, for this I have what I perceive is the perfect reply,” Trent if I cultivate enough pebbles I’ll soon have a beach”. Trent likes the comeback and we agree that not all sales are huge rocks, don’t get me wrong some are but during these times I find myself growing my beach one pebble at a time.

Its November we are into the homestretch the holidays are just around the corner are you ready or are you one of those last minute persons.Shenoa Diamonds showcases are stocked with all the holiday favorites: diamond studs, diamond tennis bracelets, diamond eternity bands to name a few ready to be boxed and wrapped. Have you told, hinted, or suggested to your significant other that you want something special this year now’s the time let your wants and needs be known.

This time of year is a wonderful time to get engaged not only will you create a lasting memory, guys if you do it around the holidays you will always be reminded, therefore forgoing the awkward, “I’m sorry honey the date just escaped my mind” . All kidding aside is there a more romantic proposal then New York during the holidays. You only get one shot to make a good impression

Hello all Kerry Ryan here……..

        There are really no second chances when it comes to first impressions so when new customers come into Shenoa & Co it is my object to get it right the first time. Let’s face it I’m not perfect but I’ve learned over the years how to become a better person, better listener, better educator, they definitely a learned traits.

   Promises I make to you and myself is that you will not be rushed I will work with you at your pace whether that is shopping for an engagement ring or creating a custom made piece or just switching the backs on your diamond stud earrings. That’s not to say that if you are in need of something special and you need it quickly I can’t do it, at Shenoa we’ve turned around rings within hours, I’ve also done special orders in a matter of a few days for those last minute shoppers.

 

 What I’m trying to convey is we’re the horse and you’re the jockey YOU set the pace!!!!!!!!

 As you can see in the last few ditties we’ve included pictures with descriptions, hope this helps you understand the pride we take in our work, I always say that all Shenoa customers are walking advertisements and they are, I’m sure any woman who gets a compliment on a beautiful diamond ring is thrilled and we are thrilled when in turn they mention that they purchased the sparkler at Shenoa & Co there is no better recommendation then that.

 On another note, the exciting time of the year is upon us, the Holiday season is breathing down our necks, guys I can’t recommend it highly enough is that if this is the year that that special woman in your life is due that special diamond gift start and end your shopping early. Autumn is Upon Us

There is magic in this world it is there to be discovered in the way we interact, is there any better then the magic created by love and respect for each other I would be put to task looking for it. The magic in the smile of a child, in the words passed,” I love you Mommy and Daddy”, these magic words started with ‘I DO’.

Great time of the year for Weddings the weather usually cooperates the venues sparkle the couples getting married radiate, I personally will be at the wedding of my future sister in law Kellee, I was honored with designing and producing her beautiful wedding band, here is a wish ‘Have a long and wondrous journey together Josh and Kellee’ the party is just the start it’s the ride that counts!!!!!

Football season is upon us and with it the advent of autumn we get to cheer are favorite teams with joy in the victories and frustration in the loses, but it sure makes for great weekends. Personally I have to say ‘GO BLUE!!!!!!! ‘

I do believe in what I do, I believe that in helping couples choose engagement rings, wedding bands, etc. that Shenoa makes an impact one that can last forever and that my friends is pretty special!!!!

And Down the Stretch They Come…………………………

Can you believe it September is upon us?, where does the time go, the summer here in the northeast was absolutely smashing and I regret its passing. So, as not to dwell on regrets, the time has come plan. You may ask yourself what I mean by that, well I’m going to tell you.

At Shenoa Diamonds planning means very different things. I personally plan on being busy in the upcoming months filling those engagement ring orders, though I hate to say it preparing for the Christmas/ Holiday Season takes up great’s amounts of time now. I go over our inventory of diamond bracelets, studs, pendants to make sure we are positioned correctly. At the same time we begin introducing new styles for the upcoming season keeping in mind our agenda of always accentuating the center and making sure the new styles are timeless.

I personally recommend a trip to New York to come visit us this time of year the city shines this time of year and Shenoa Diamonds as well as our inventory shines along with it.

At the same time you should be planning, whether it’s the guy getting his financial house in order to make that life changing purchase of an engagement ring, or the husband that knows damn well that his beleaguered wife deserves something really special this Christmas( I know a few of you myself but I promise not to name names). Planning takes time so start early because the quote,”it gets late early around here” means a lot around here.

So lets get together and start to finish that planning making a great ending to 2010 we all be better for it!!!!!

It’s Easy ‘cause They Smile

It’s Easy ‘cause They Smile

Boss had just seen a smiling customer plant a kiss on my cheek. She was thrilled with her matching diamond band with the wedding being so close, He comments,” we make people happy”. I counter with, “we are in the happy business”, and after thinking about it we are and how many can say that. Shenoa Diamonds makes people smile, we are involved with couples at their most joyous moment, how many smiles and tears of joy have been seen and shed by the simple act of opening a small box.

The joy in the knowledge of all the hard work and hard earned money and of course the time spent on picking out an engagement ring when presented to that special loved one now that is what I mean by being in the “Happy Business”.

Working with couples on their wedding bands, seeing the long made plans of a grand life together come to fruition that is the “Happy Business”, and I am proud to be part of the moment.

I’ve mentioned my Texas friends before but what can be better that a long lost love reunited and I become an integral part of that reunion now that my friends is being in the’ Happy Business’.

It’s Christmas morning a very tired wife and mother opens up a small box inside are a beautiful pair of 2 ct Diamond Studs here come those tears of joy I mentioned before as the you shouldn’t have and I can’t believe it as well as the I love you flow now that is the ‘Happy Business’

Then there is one of my favorites when a family with small children walks into the store and the children are a little restless I grab a couple of cubic circonia and present them with their first diamonds the joy and wonderment that comes from this simple act is truly inspiring and really puts us in the ‘Happy Business”

Endings and Beginnings……………………..

      Hey I don’t know if you noticed but summer is just flying by we are already half way through July where the time go. The weather’s been perfect here in NYC (that’s if you like it hot and I’m one of those) It’s been darn near a 10 everyday but I know before we blink autumn will come a calling ending the summer beginning the fall.

 So today we speak of endings to beginnings, we in New York lost an icon this week in George Steinbrenner love him or hate him the man always did what he thought would give him the best chance at winning and his Yankees proved his point so with his sudden ending so starts a beginning for his Sons in charge of running the team their father so coveted, they have a tough act to follow here wishing them all the luck and foresight their father had.

     When a guy gets down on bended knee presents the engagement ring and asks that special lady to marry him so ends one chapter in life and begins a whole new one you are now responsible for two it carries great weight as well as responsibility. They say the fun is in the ride well marriage is one hell of a ride they could name a rollercoaster ‘marriage” and it would be fitting.

     When a newborn comes into a couple’s life so ends the couple and so begins the family. The diamond band given at birth is a badge of honor but I believe there is no greater reward than children I’ve been blessed with two and wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world (though there are days my wife would like a Velcro wall).

     There are so many more we could discuss high school to college, from your parent’s house to that first apartment, from one job to another. There are the milestones in life that should be well rewarded 39 to 40, 49 to 50 etc guys remember these numbers as a jeweler I can attest to the fact that diamond studs or bracelet will lessen the blow.

   So there is an unending list of endings to beginnings these are but a few, kind of like,” when one door closes another door opens” but alas that is for another day……………….

Happy Fourth of July here’s hoping there are Fireworks in your Future

Happy Fourth of July here’s hoping there are Fireworks in your Future…………….

Great holiday the 4th full of fun, family, beaches and barbeques usually ending in a fun filled evening of fireworks. Fireworks they are great I plan on having my two children sitting on the beach this Sunday and I’m sure they’ll be staring in wonderment at the colors the sparkle, they will jump at the noise and in the end they will smile with joy. The first time, while being the best I still get the thrill and look forward to sharing it with my family.

Diamonds whether they be engagement or diamond rings bring the same fascination, the ladies spend months staring in wonderment at the sparkle; they jump with joy when they receive them, and the smiles they produce are unending. The first time given or received is pure joy, while the thrill never lessens no matter how many they have been given.
So I recommend you shoot some fireworks off in your lives all it takes is some time and money you can start with a firecracker (diamond studs or pendant) and work your way up to one of those ultimate explosions you see over the skies of Manhattan with a well timed diamond ring. You know a beautifully cut diamond sparkles like any starburst and lasts a lifetime.

Just as your first fireworks create a life lasting memory so does a diamond given and /or received!!!!!!
