Shenoa Diamonds' Signature Styles and Handmade Engagement Rings.

Hello all Kerry Ryan here!!

Let’s talk about the ring pictured here, it’s one of Shenoa Diamonds signature styles. This handmade ring is platinum and has 46 round diamonds totaling 0.47ct., set individually micro-pave style. The center stone in this case is a 2cts Asscher-cut diamond (square emerald).

I featured this ring today to discuss its simplicity and elegance. I’ve made it for all shapes, the subtle contours lend itself well especially for rounds, cushions, princess, and square radiant cut diamonds. The ring enhances the diamond well by not taking away from the beauty of the center stone. It takes the solitaire feel one step further. Those small stones in the mounting are set using a microscope (hence micro pave) with shared prongs you can literally see the brilliance of each diamond absolutely stunning!

At Shenoa we find this works for the customer that wants more than a solitaire while really showing of the center stone’s uniqueness. The ring can be made in all metals and like all of the signature series has a matching wedding band. I’ve made the ring for all size centers so no worries that the ring would dwarf the center diamond.

This is a start of many more signature rings that we will feature. We are proud at Shenoa Diamonds of our handmade pieces and hope that you find them as alluring as we do. So come visit us in New York City and we’ll show you more and as always we welcome any comments and feedback.

I hope you enjoy the rings as much as we enjoy making them!!

Happy Mother’s Day from Shenoa & Company

Hello all, Kerry Ryan here!

Things to be thankful for; while there are plenty of options let’s focus on one that would be MOM with the advent of Mother’s Day upon us I couldn’t think of a better one.

Mom was there for you when you needed her most. When you were sick she nursed you back to health. Mom helped on those troubling nights when sleep didn’t come so easily. She cheered you at your ball games and clapped at your concerts. Mom stood proudly at your many graduations and ceremonies beaming with pride. Mom always found time to lend an ear never saying she was too busy or occupied to help you out. Mom was as good as a referee as any who took to a ring (especially in my house with four testosterone charged boys) she knew how to declare a winner or mostly how to declare a tie. Mom always kept you clean and dressed (while I still can’t get over those plaid pants she made me wear in the 6th grade).

So as I said we have a ton of reasons to thank Mom for and that goes for the Mother of my children just as well. Motherhood is probably the most important but the least congratulated job on this earth. Speaking for myself knowing full well what I put my Mother (countless sleepless nights) through there is not enough diamonds and flowers in the world that would be reward enough!

So Shenoa Diamonds suggests that you show your thanks in what ever form you see fit whether it’s a sparkling pair of diamond studs, a stunning diamond tennis bracelet, or a nice bouquet of flowers accompanied with dinner, show Mom some thanks.

To my wife and Mother; Happy Mother’s Day!!

I and Shenoa Diamond wish all our friends and clients a very Happy Mother’s Day!!!

Hope this story brings a smile to you as it did to me.

Hello all, Kerry Ryan here!!

On the lighter side of the jewelry business I have a story to share with you.

I have a lady client (she’s been my customer for years) let’s say she is just a bit demanding and tends to find everything too inconvenient. Well I sell her a beautiful diamond eternity ring, I suggest it needs to have the size adjusted slightly, as usual she nicely disagrees and not having the time, decides to wear it away. So it does not surprise me that a few weeks later this same client gives me a call, it goes as follows:

Client: “Hello Kerry Mrs. Bialystock (not her real name) here, remember that diamond ring I bought from you a couple of weeks ago?”

Myself: “Of course Mrs. Bialystock who could forget that sparkler. With that said how can I be of service?”

Client: ”It is absolutely gorgeous and I am totally thrilled with it (here comes the but) but I have a small problem.”

M: ”And what would that be?”

Client: ”It’s too tight and I need it sized.”

M: ”No problem (as I’m biting my tongue), come on down and we will take care of it while you wait.”

Client: “well that’s the problem it’s stuck on my finger and I’ve tried every which way and I can’t get it off!!”

M: “All the more reason to come down and let me work on it, I promise I’ll be gentle.”

Client: “Well, that’s just too inconvenient for me to come there, I’ll just ship it!

Here’s where I put down the phone (picturing a box being delivered with a ring in it attach to a finger) didn’t want Mrs. Bialystock hearing me chuckle. We did eventually work out the sizing issue and no blood was spilled.

Hope this story brings a smile to you as it did to me.

Speak Soon.

Starting to plan your engagement or wedding? We are ready for you at Shenoa & Co.

Hello all, Kerry Ryan here!

Well spring is threatening to spring and it couldn’t get here soon enough, I am definitely not a winter person. So with the advent of spring I’ve noticed couples shopping for engagement rings and wedding bands. Today let’s concentrate on the wedding band purchase.

A few recommendations that in my opinion will help the process immensely; first is the timing, what we recommend at Shenoa Diamonds is that it is done no less then 3 months before the wedding. The reasons being is that as you approach the wedding date the list of things to-do gets longer not shorter so the things you can check off the do list is highly suggested. Secondly at Shenoa we find that we create a significant amount of custom rings and these can take some time to make, you definitely don’t want them delivered down the aisle do you? So as stated timing is an important issue.

Let’s talk about how you go about choosing a style. The questions you need to answer for yourself:

1) Diamond or Classic?
2) Matching to my engagement ring or something that has nice balance?
3) Narrowing the style (as I’ve mentioned before you will never buy a maybe so if you think maybe I like it eliminate that from your choices).
4) Very important is that as couple you create a budget that works for both of you (you’re a team now this is a great way to start teamwork working).

I always start with the girls first not that the men are any less important it’s just that I’ve found that the ladies have more options and therefore command more time and justly deserve it.

For the men we have beautiful classic bands in Platinum, white or yellow gold as well as some designer lines Verragio, Benchmark, Novell and newly introduced Shenoa Men’s collection. Guy’s you have options also so we’ll pay full attention to you too I just tend to start with the ladies.

So all you couples planning a wedding you have your homework assignment if you have any questions please feel free to forward them to Professor Ryan be happy to answer them!!!

We are going to have better days; we are going forward in our lives and relationships, we are going to continue to get engaged, have children, birthda

Hello all, Kerry Ryan Here!

You know what’s great; we are starting to feel positive here at Shenoa Diamonds people are coming in looking for engagement rings, anniversary gifts, birthday presents. In spite of what’s going on these days our lives move forward, our prospects get better and we realize that special someone is truly that special someone and we decide to show it.

Just today a couple from Alabama commits to a 3 cts. oval shaped diamond set in platinum with two accompanying pear-shape diamonds, next a gentleman from New Jersey puts a deposit on a 4 cts. princess-cut set in a platinum solitaire with a matching diamond eternity band with princess cut diamonds. All the while I’m working in the store with this young doctor on an engagement ring for his fiancĂ© (2 cts. round set with matching rounds .10ct each eternity style). I’m talking some serious pocket-change here, in the immortal words of Steven Stills “There’s somethin’ happening here” but in this case it’s exactly clear. We are going to have better days; we are going forward in our lives and relationships, we are going to continue to get engaged, have children, birthdays and anniversaries.

That is where Shenoa & Co. comes into play; we are here for you to help with those special occasions basically to make them more special. I can feel it, I can see it, and I can’t help but feel positive; it is my nature. We are all in this together, we will dig ourselves out of it together one smile, one present, one special occasion at a time!!

To all that celebrate, I wish you a Happy Passover and a Happy Easter to you and your families!!

The things we do for love!!

Hello all, Kerry Ryan…..

Interesting engagement ring stories always make me smile. I saw where a couple was getting engaged on the Brooklyn Bridge yesterday and the guy dropped the ring which coincidently landed on the lower level so instead of walking to the end of the bridge and taking the stairs the future groom decides to climb down the bridge tower to retrieve the ring!! As they say on TV, “Do Not Try This At Home”. Passing motorists thought the guy was a jumper and kept telling him life was worth living for. I guess he proved his love for his future fiancĂ© as well as flair for the dramatic.

The things we do for love!!

That brings me to my own story (well quite safer and mundane in nature). My wife and I had a favorite pub (the former Joshua Huddy) in town that we would frequent often for a quick bite. My wife Jackie had a few friends who worked there and we were always treated great. Well when I decided to make my wife an honest woman I planned our engagement there. I set it up with her friend Brooke (bartender, we preferred to sit at the bar) to put the diamond ring in her drink and she did just that!! One small issue though she never took it out of the envelope I’d put it in. I did all I could do from bursting with laughter (supposed to be an important moment) as my wife tried to figure out the importance of a coin envelope sitting in her pint glass. Well eventually she opened it and everything proceeded as planned, we now have two wonderful children!

So I invite one and all to share their stories about how they received their diamonds or other items of jewelry. I think it would be fun to bring cheer into your and other lives. There are a ton of interesting stories out there; share them with us on our Facebook page!

Have a great weekend!

At Shenoa & Co. we are creating rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces and other jewelry that will be the tomorrow’s classics.

Hello all, Kerry Ryan here!!

I was at breakfast this morning when a Dean Martin song came on (it was “Kick in the Head”) while my taste for music generates toward rock’n’roll, I have developed an affection for the classic crooners, you know Frankie, Dean, Tony…..

It reminds me that you can never go wrong with a classic and the same goes for jewelry. While the new styles are in vogue, a lot can be said for the classics. Guys, solitaires and three stone rings are timeless and lovely and always a safe bet if you are choosing the ring yourself. Girls, well a funky fashion bracelet or earring style might look great today, but will you be wearing it in 3- 5 years or will it be a roommate of other jewelry items that have gone out of fashion in your jewelry box?

That’s the beauty of a classic that never goes out of style; it is something that is passed down from generation to generation in an endearing way. Grandma’s pot roast was so good because her Grandma passed along the recipe perfection over time. The same goes for taste in jewelry, the classics have already have stood the test of time. They have been run through the opinion mill and come out winners!!

With that said keep in mind that today we are creating rings, bracelets, necklaces etc. that will be tomorrow’s classics, all I’m suggesting is keep you mind open to something old that can be something new.
